Meet Donkey: A Gentle Soul with a Heart of Gold
by Siiri Cole on 12/19/24
At Charming Pony Parties, every animal has a unique story, and none is more touching than that of Donkey. Donkey joined our farm in the summer of 2022, arriving alongside his companions Cupcake and Sebastian. They all came from a difficult situation—rescued from a slaughter auction and in desperate need of care and compassion. Despite a rough start, Donkey has made remarkable progress and has become a beloved part of our farm family.
Donkey’s Journey to a New Home
When Donkey arrived at our farm, he was emaciated and fearful, like his fellow rescues. It was clear he needed time, patience, and a lot of TLC to regain his trust and health. The transformation we’ve witnessed in Donkey has been truly heartwarming. Though he took a while to warm up to us, the bond we’ve formed with him has been incredibly rewarding.
Donkey’s Progress and Personality
Donkey’s journey from a timid rescue to a trusted member of our team has been filled with small victories and moments of joy. Here’s a bit more about Donkey and what makes him special:
A Slow Starter: Donkey was initially very wary of people, which is understandable given his past. He needed time to adjust to his new surroundings and to build trust with us. Through gentle care and consistent positive interactions, Donkey has come to trust us more and more.
A Working Companion: One of the exciting developments is that Donkey can now carry a small pack saddle, which we use to transport refreshments for our off-site events. It’s a testament to his progress and a wonderful way for him to be involved in our activities. Seeing him happily carrying supplies while being surrounded by the farm community is a joy.
Timid Yet Affectionate: Donkey is still a bit timid, especially around new people. However, once he decides you’re OK, his affection shines through. He loves getting pets and enjoys gentle attention from those he trusts. His shy demeanor quickly melts away when he feels safe and appreciated.
The Joy of Caring for Donkey
Caring for Donkey has been a deeply fulfilling experience for our team. His resilience and gradual transformation are reminders of the incredible impact love and care can have on an animal's life. We’re proud of the progress he’s made and are grateful for the opportunity to provide him with a safe and loving home.
Come Say Hello to Donkey
We invite you to visit Charming Pony Parties and meet Donkey in person. Whether you’re attending one of our events or stopping by for a farm tour, Donkey is always happy to see visitors. He might be a bit shy at first, but with a gentle approach, you’ll soon experience his sweet nature and enjoy some special moments of connection.
Donkey’s story is a beautiful example of how far compassion and patience can go. He’s come a long way from his difficult past and continues to thrive in his new home. We hope you’ll come to visit Donkey and share in the joy of seeing him live his best life.
Thank you for supporting our mission to rescue and care for animals like Donkey. We look forward to welcoming you to Charming Pony Parties and introducing you to this remarkable, gentle soul.
A Legacy of Love: The Heartwarming Story of Caesar & Pokey
by Siiri Cole on 12/17/24
At Charming Pony Parties, we have been blessed to care for many incredible animals over the years, but few have left as lasting an impression as Caesar and Pokey. These two remarkable horses spent their twilight years with us, living out their days in the peace and happiness they so richly deserved. Their story is one of friendship, love, and the joy of a well-earned retirement.
Caesar: The Laughing Barrel Racer
Caesar came to us as a retired barrel racer, and though he was approximately 40 years old when he arrived, his spirit was still as vibrant as ever. Barrel racing is a demanding sport, and Caesar had spent many years giving his all in the arena. But when his racing days were over, he needed a place to call home where he could relax and enjoy a slower pace of life.
Despite his age, Caesar had a unique and endearing trait that never failed to make us smile—when he whinnied, it sounded just like he was laughing. This joyful sound became a familiar and beloved part of our daily routine, a reminder of Caesar’s indomitable spirit and the happiness he found in his new home. Even in retirement, Caesar’s energy and zest for life were contagious, spreading cheer to everyone who spent time with him.
Pokey: The Petite but Mighty Companion
Wherever Caesar went, his loyal companion Pokey was never far behind. Pokey was a miniature stallion who, like Caesar, was in the later stages of his life when he came to live with us. In his late 30s, Pokey may have been small in stature, but his personality was as big as they come.
Pokey had a special fondness for pets and treats, and he quickly became a favorite among our visitors. His gentle nature and love for attention made him an irresistible presence on the farm. Whether he was nuzzling up for a scratch behind the ears or eagerly waiting for his next treat, Pokey brought a sense of warmth and connection to everyone who met him. He was proof that even the smallest creatures can leave the biggest impressions.
A Happy Retirement
Caesar and Pokey lived out the rest of their days at Charming Pony Parties, where they received all the love and care they could ever want. Their friendship was a beautiful thing to witness; they were inseparable, finding comfort and joy in each other’s company. Together, they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—grazing in the fields, basking in the sun, and being surrounded by the love of their human caregivers.
Their time with us was a testament to the importance of providing a safe and loving environment for animals in their later years. Caesar and Pokey may have been in the twilight of their lives, but they continued to bring light and happiness to everyone around them.
Remembering Caesar and Pokey
Though Caesar and Pokey have since passed on, their legacy lives on at Charming Pony Parties. They remind us of the importance of compassion, especially for animals who have given so much throughout their lives. Their story is one of friendship, loyalty, and the joy that comes from caring for those who need it most.
We cherish the memories of Caesar’s laughing whinny and Pokey’s affectionate nuzzles. These two incredible horses will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we are honored to have been a part of their journey. They remind us every day of the power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived.
At Charming Pony Parties, we continue to strive to provide the best care for all our animals, just as we did for Caesar and Pokey. Their story is a beautiful example of the bonds we can form with the animals who share our lives, and we are grateful for the time we had with them.

Meet Clover: A Resilient Spirit Finding New Purpose
by Siiri Cole on 11/17/24
At Charming Pony Parties, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming many remarkable animals into our care, each with their own unique story. Today, we’d like to introduce you to Clover, a horse whose journey to our farm is both heartwarming and inspiring.
Clover’s Journey from the Slaughter Yard
Clover’s story began in a slaughter yard, where she was inseparable from her companion, Dolly. When we found Clover, we knew we couldn’t leave her behind. Her loyalty to Dolly was touching, and it was clear that she deserved a chance at a new life.
Upon arriving at our farm, Clover was estimated to be around 7 years old by our veterinarian. She had an ulcer, likely the result of the stress and frequent relocations she had endured—moving from Arizona to Texas and back to Arizona before finding her way to us. Despite her tough past, Clover’s spirit remained strong.
A Horse with Training and Challenges
Clover came to us with some impressive training. She knew how to behave under saddle, a sign that she had been well-trained at some point in her life. However, as we observed her more closely, it became apparent that she experienced discomfort when carrying a rider over 100 pounds. Further examination, including x-rays, revealed that Clover has arthritis in her back.
This diagnosis meant that traditional riding could be challenging and painful for Clover, particularly when carrying heavier riders. It was clear that Clover would need a different approach to her care and work to ensure her comfort and well-being.
Finding a New Purpose
Our goal with Clover is to provide her with a fulfilling and pain-free life. While she may not be suited for traditional riding, we believe she can still find joy and purpose through a different avenue. We’re excited to explore teaching Clover to drive a cart. This new role could offer her several benefits:
A New Job: Horses thrive when they have a purpose, and learning to drive a cart will give Clover a meaningful job to do. It’s a way for her to stay active and engaged, which is vital for her overall happiness.
Supporting Her Health: Driving a cart can help strengthen Clover’s back muscles, which may alleviate some of the discomfort associated with her arthritis. Additionally, it provides a way for her to exercise without the strain of carrying a rider.
Managing Pain: Along with the new role, Clover will benefit from medication to help manage her arthritis and ensure she remains as comfortable as possible. Our team is committed to providing her with the best care to address her pain and enhance her quality of life.
Join Us in Supporting Clover
Clover’s story is a testament to resilience and the power of compassionate care. Despite her challenging past and the difficulties she faces, Clover continues to show a wonderful spirit and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.
We invite you to follow Clover’s journey as she transitions into her new role. Your support means the world to us and to Clover. Whether it’s through visiting our farm, spreading the word about our mission, or contributing to her care, every bit of support helps us ensure Clover’s continued well-being and happiness.
Thank you for being a part of Clover’s story and for supporting our efforts to provide the best possible care for all our rescue animals. We look forward to sharing more updates about Clover and celebrating the progress she makes in her new role.
Here’s to Clover, a horse with a heart full of resilience and a future filled with new adventures!
Remembering Dolly: A Brave Spirit Who Touched Our Hearts
by Siiri Cole on 11/07/24
At Charming Pony Parties, we’ve had the honor of caring for many extraordinary animals, and among them, Dolly will always hold a special place in our hearts. Dolly came to us in October 2020, a seasoned horse with a story that spoke volumes of resilience and love. Despite facing significant health challenges, Dolly's time with us was filled with joy and affection that we will always cherish.
Dolly’s Journey to Our Farm
Dolly arrived at our farm at the age of about 30 years, rescued from a slaughter auction and already showing signs of her challenging health condition. She was riddled with melanoma, a condition that presented itself in multiple tumors across her body. Her condition included tumors under her tail, on her sides, in her neck, in her mouth, and in her stomach. Despite these severe health issues, Dolly’s spirit was remarkably strong.
Upon her arrival, Dolly had a tumor removed from her eye, and our dedicated team worked tirelessly to manage her care. Though the tumors were a significant challenge, Dolly’s determination and zest for life shone brightly.
Dolly’s Spirit and Joy
What made Dolly’s time with us truly special was her remarkable spirit. Despite her diagnosis and the discomfort she must have felt, Dolly was always eager to embrace life with enthusiasm. She would run and play in the field, her movements a testament to her indomitable spirit. Watching her frolic and enjoy the freedom of the pasture was a reminder of the resilience and joy that can exist even in the face of adversity.
Dolly also had a deep affection for human interaction. She loved being brushed and adored the attention she received from our staff and visitors. Her gentle nature and the pleasure she took in being loved on made every moment spent with her incredibly rewarding. It was clear that, despite her challenges, Dolly found great comfort and happiness in the affection she received.
A Lasting Legacy
Tragically, Dolly succumbed to her illness in August 2022. Her passing was a profound loss for all of us who had the privilege of knowing her. Dolly’s journey was marked by courage and grace, and her memory continues to inspire us. She left behind a legacy of resilience and the enduring impact of her loving presence.
Honoring Dolly’s Memory
Dolly’s time with us may have been shorter than we wished, but the impact she made was immeasurable. She taught us the true meaning of strength and the power of love, even in the face of daunting challenges. Her ability to find joy and connection despite her suffering was a poignant reminder of the beauty and bravery inherent in all living beings.
We invite you to remember Dolly with us. Share your memories, reflect on her journey, and celebrate the spirit of a horse who touched so many lives. Dolly’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who had the honor of caring for her and in the lessons she imparted about courage and compassion.
Thank you for being a part of Dolly’s story and for supporting the work we do at Charming Pony Parties. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have known Dolly and to have been a part of her life. She will always be remembered with love and fondness.
